The first thing you should do when looking to renovate your basement is take a good long look at your entire basement space and begin planning out where you want everything to go. You’ll also want to ensure you know where all your load-bearing and support beams and columns are, as these won’t be able to be moved.

Do You Want to Waterproof Your Basement?

Waterproofing your basement is an important part of the basement remodeling process, one that some homeowners think they can skip. But if you’re performing a remodel, you want it to last. Basements are prone to flooding, so if you want to preserve your new basement, we recommend waterproofing it.

Will Any Egress Be Required?

Depending on what you’re planning on doing, you may be required to add some additional egress points. If you plan on adding a bedroom to the basement, you will need to add extra windows or entryways. It’s all a matter of safety. If something goes wrong, you need to be able to get out of the home.
