Choosing Flooring for a Restaurant Remodel

Your restaurant is your livelihood, and it’s important you make the best design choices possible.

Flooring is not just something you need to fit your restaurant’s aesthetic, but you also need a floor that’s durable and will hold up to wear, be easy to clean, and be safe for employees and customers to walk on. It’s also important to consider different flooring options for the different areas in your restaurant, as each area has different needs.

Best flooring for a restaurant remodel

Carpet Flooring

This can be a good choice as it is easy to walk on and comes in a variety of colors and styles, so you’re sure to find something that works well for your restaurant’s design.

Carpet is not a good choice for the kitchen or behind the bar, as it can be difficult to clean, will retain moisture, and it stains easily.

It is, however, a good choice for your restaurant’s entrance or dining area. The entrance especially can be a good place for carpet, as it will trap any dirt or water on your customer’s shoes before they enter the restaurant proper.

Tile Flooring

Once installed, they are very durable, and they are able to be used on the walls as well as the floor, which can tie all your design elements together.

To help with the design element, tile flooring also comes in a variety of colors and styles and can be installed in ways that make customization endless.

Tiles most likely aren’t a great choice for your kitchen areas, as they aren’t as slip resistant as other flooring options, they can be expensive and time-consuming to install, and they are difficult to clean.

Laminate, Vinyl, and Linoleum Flooring

These options are easy to clean, maintain, are slip-proof to ensure the safety of customers and staff, and come in any number of colors and styles to fit your design.

The only real downside to these kinds of flooring is if you choose cheaper options, they might not look as high-quality as your other flooring would, which may be detrimental to your restaurant’s feel.

Coated Concrete Flooring

A final option, and one seeing a recent rise in popularity is concrete flooring. Concrete is extremely durable, affordable, and (when properly sealed) repels moisture and stains very well.

With concrete flooring, you are presented a blank canvas and simply must decide what style, colors, or patterns you would want for the floor. By partnering with an experienced concrete floor coating company, you will be presented with a wide variety of color choices and sealing options.
